Our client’s device has saved thousands of lives by testing for the top ten bloodborne diseases in under twenty minutes at the point of care, meaning that even remote communities can be tested and treated quickly.

They are looking for a proactive, experienced Senior Electronics Design Engineer to join their team in their R&D facility in Bedford on a permanent basis.

 

 

About the Role

As an Electronics Design Engineer you will be involved in the designing and testing of medical device lab rigs, product prototypes and technology being developed or commissioned by clients.  Working alongside R&D Scientists you will create, maintain, and trouble-shoot prototype products, technology or lab rigs being used in the lab test environment. Alongside this, you will be responsible for designing circuits which satisfy relevant safety and regulatory requirements.

 

Responsibilities include:
  • Bringing up and testing of prototype designs or new technology.
  • Designing circuits to meet EMC pass criteria and managing the EMC testing conducted externally.
  • Identifying and capturing electronic design requirements.
  • Translating electronic product requirements into design specifications.
  • Developing and executing the required verification and validation activities needed to demonstrate that an electronic design has met/has not met specification.
  • Working in conjunction with the company’s Quality Policy and Quality Objectives.
  • Ensuring the team are trained on all appropriate procedures.

 

 

Requirements:

About You:

This role requires an innovator. You will be part of a team that are working on delivering cutting edge POC diagnostic devices. We are interested in applications from electronic design innovators who have worked in regulated industries e.g. (medical, aerospace, automotive, telecoms)

You will need to be a highly motivated individual and be interested in or experienced with building and leading a team.

Essential:
  • Degree in Electronic Engineering
  • Proficient in the use of the CAD package Altium for schematic capture, layout and BOM generation.
  • Management of external PCB layout and prototype builds in accordance with project needs.
  • Proficient in analogue, digital and mixed system electronics design.
  • Willingness to learn and develop skills relevant to the role.
  • Knowledge and experience in the implementation of electronic safety standards applicable for products sold into the UK, EU and US.
  • Highly skilled in the use of the appropriate tools and techniques to bring up prototype/pre production designs.
Preferred:
  • Experience in design of optical and electrochemical measurement systems.
  • Experience of working in a regulated industry (medical, defence, aerospace) highly desirable.
  • Experience developing, researching, or implementing sensor technology and solutions.
